报告内容: Metasurfaces have been emerged as one of rapidly-developing subjects in science and engineering due to their nature of multi-disciplinary and applications ranging from microwave to optics. Novel manufacturing tools have further enabled the development of metasurface research and intriguing designs have been realized based on the use of nanofabrication techniques and rapid prototyping tools. In this talk, I will focus on how to design new forms of metasurfaces which may overcome the limitation arising from traditional designs based upon the use of periodic structures. I will discuss the possibilities of applying the theory of hyperuniform disorder to overcome unwanted Bragg diffraction. Active materials with tunability and non-Foster theorem will be also introduced in order to overcome the bandwidth limits of metasurfaces. Finally, a common platform for design optimisation of metasurfaces will be presented.

 

报告人简介: Professor Yang Hao has a distinguished record of achievement in research and education. A key example of his academic leadership is in the development of advanced design and manufacturing technologies with the UK industry for antenna applications. Prof Hao led research projects of more than £20M as a principal investigator. He is the director of a £5M EPSRC QUEST Programme Grant and a member of management team of £25M Cambridge Graphene Ceneter. He co-founded Isotropic System Limited for future satellite communications on the move. Professor Hao is the Fellow of IET and IEEE. He was awarded with the prestigious IET AF Harvey Research Prize in 2015, BAE Chairman’s Silver Award and he is a current holder of the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award. Professor Hao has published over 170 journal papers, 2 books and more than 15 book chapters, which lead to more than 12000 citations, a H-index of 53.
